The global revival in nuclear power, and the wider move to a low carbon economy, provides a major opportunity for manufacturing companies to get involved in the building and operating of the UK’s new nuclear power stations as well as the nuclear decommissioning programme.
To maximise this opportunity, the Manufacturing Advisory Service aims to encourage and support new suppliers to enter the nuclear supply chains both at home and internationally. Through its programme of subsidised support local MAS regions will help small and medium-sized manufacturers to compete effectively with international competitors and secure large elements of the supply chain. They will help manufacturers save valuable time, by removing complexity, steer them through the maze of information already available and help provide a head-start for them to compete for nuclear supply chain contracts.
For this first in a series of nuclear focused events, all the MAS regions have come together with the key payers in the nuclear industry to provide manufacturers with an insight into the civil nuclear supply chain and the new business opportunities this presents. You will hear from the energy supply companies and their tier one and tier two contractors, all of whom are committed to a significant element of local sourcing. We will explain the structure of the industry and who is looking to buy what and when. We will try to de-mystify the particular characteristics of the market and to give you some guidance on what you need to do to become a supplier. Finally we will explain the range of subsidised support that MAS can give to ease you on your way.
