In 2005 One Central Park was opened as an ICP baed urban business park designed to contribute to the regeneration of East Manchester by becoming a source of long term high value employment for local people.
The purpose of One Central Park is to drive the process of regeneration through:
Links into the world-wide knowledge base, through jointly-run industrial/academic research and development groups devoted to the application of the latest knowledge.
The creation of a continuous flow of new high technology enterprises by drawing technologists and entrepreneurs into Central Park and assisting them in the establishment and growth of their businesses by providing them with premises, business training and mentoring.
The provision of education and training opportunities at all levels from basic skills to postgraduate studies ensuring that the local population benefits from the opportunities on offer and those companies on the Park have a ready source of skilled and knowledge trained employees with which to grow and develop their businesses.
One Central Park offers:
Companies-Easy access to the wealth of resources and expertise contained within the three Greater Manchester universities and Manchester College, the local further education college - these together represent the largest concentration of Further and Higher Education in Europe. As such it will serve to translate between the different worlds of education and commerce, delivering facilities and services in packages that conformto commercial parameters.
Individuals-The opportunity to enter the new knowledge-based economy and to develop and prosper within it at a level and in a role of their choosing. They will find themselves in an environment which caters for the individual, whatever their background, encouraging them to fulfil their dreams and aspirations through education, training and enterprise.
Academia-Academics and those concerned with the transfer of technology, the opportunity to combine their efforts in building symbiotic research and development groups in which knowledge is revealed and transferred ‘just in time’. Similarly, One Central Park will draw together industrial practitioners and academics to compile and present together, advanced courses which combine practice with theory in a way that adds value to the activities of technologists working in the technological marketplace.
Local, Regional and National Government-Outputs in the form of new businesses, business opportunities and trained personnel that fulfil governmental objectives at national, regional and local levels and contribute to economic regeneration and social inclusion.
A range of facilities are available to companies located in the One Central Park Incubator, including access to serviced office accommodation, from hot desks to self-contained offices. The professional services available will focus on three main areas: finance, marketing and business development. Specific mentoring packages will be tailored to individual company needs.
The Incubator will supportthe organic growth of these companies and develop their capacity to establish sustainable business models which are then moved on to our grown on space run by Manchester Science Park.
