There has been plenty to keep the UMIC Events team busy recently, with 2011 proving to be our busiest year so far and things are set to continue to keep us on our toes throughout 2012!
UMIC’s conference and event facilities are in the heart of Manchester’s vibrant academic and business community, a place where ideas spark and innovation and business meet.
Our meeting rooms are dedicated spaces for busy people to think, discuss and plan, work through agendas, achieve results, innovate and burst into action.
To celebrate our focus on encouraging innovation, and as a place for blue sky thinking, we've renamed all of our meeting rooms in the Core Technology Facility to honour entrepreneurs and innovators with close links to Manchester and the University.
Over the last year we have hosted over 500 meetings and events. In recent months we’ve welcomed a wide range of clients to the CTF including:
• Shell International
• Commission for the New Economy Manchester
• TrusTECH
• Royal College of Pathologists
• Business in the Community
• Business Finance Solutions
• Sigma Aldrich
• Insider Media
• Business Support Solutions
• White Paper Conference Company
• Manchester Business School
Our tenants have also benefitted from the CTF event facilities. UMIC tenants XCellR8 and SRi Forensics have made good use of the great event facilities right on their doorstep, with both companies successfully hosting key events at the CTF.
SRi Forensics welcomed Crown Prosecution Service staff to a conference to demonstrate their evidential presentation services. Great use was made of the integrated AV facilities in the Dalton Room to give demonstrations of SRi Forensics work on high profile cases and the day was a great success.
Following their first successful event in 2010 XCellR8 held their second Fast Train Workshop and Exhibition at the CTF with over 90 delegates in attendance. The third Fast Train Workshop is now in the pipeline for autumn 2012.
The CTF is also growing in popularity as a venue for University departmental awaydays and workshops, with organisers highlighting the location as ideal for their events and offering all the benefits of being away from the workplace while still being within easy reach of the University campus.
