The University of Manchester Innovation Group (UMIᶟ Ltd) welcomed Eli Lilly and Company to The University of Manchester Innovation Centre (www.umic.co.uk) on Friday 29th June as part of its Entrepreneurship Forum programme. The purpose of the Entrepreneurship Forum is to unite the global corporate community with the University’s world-class academic research base fostering a collaborative environment for Open Innovation. Lilly is a world-leader in the pharmaceutical industry dedicated to creating and delivering innovative pharmaceutical health care solutions that enable people to live longer, healthier and more active lives.
Lilly representatives presented their key areas of interest to a selection of research academics and University spin-out companies working in the biomedical field. The presentation and question and answer session was followed by a series of more in-depth one-2-one meetings about specific technologies.
Dr Alan Lamont, Senior Director, Global External Research & Development (Europe & Middle East) commented: ”Eli Lilly and Company has a long and significant track record of working with academia to help develop new medicines to treat the most debilitating human diseases. Working with UMIᶟ allowed us to view a range of innovative healthcare projects, and to gain an understanding of the scope of medical science and technology active within The University of Manchester.”
