Manchester Girl Geek Network launches in UMIC facilities

The UK’s unique professional network for women in technology and science businesses launched in Manchester on March 12 thanks to a northwest girl geek, Valerie de Leonibus of Inventya. This is a first for Manchester and Valerie invited women working in or with technology in the Greater Manchester area to help make the launch a success.

“It’s about time women technologists in the Manchester area had their own network,” explained Valerie. “Manchester is packed out with technology-oriented companies. We’ve got so much going on here from start-ups to corporates and from IP lawyers to biochemists. Women working in these companies deserve to have their own professional network and that’s what makes Girl Geek so unique.”

UMIC was delighted to host the launch event in the Core Technology Facility’s atrium area, providing open informal space with dining tables and fully integrated presentation facilities. More Girl Geek events will be announced soon and UMIC will no doubt play host once more!
