Call for Global Entrepreneurship Competition nominations

Young, innovative companies across the UK are being offered a chance to present their business plans to a highly influential global meeting of investors at the World Innovation Congress in Barcelona this summer.

Manchester Science Parks (msp) is calling for nominations from early stage, innovative companies who wish to be considered for the Global Entrepreneurship Competition, part of the prestigious HiT Barcelona ’09 event.

The competition is aimed at bringing together, in Barcelona, some of the best early stage ventures from across the world with a group of valuable potential investors, with the objective of helping the young businesses raise new capital.

As a member of the World Nominating Committee, msp has been asked to select five innovative ventures from the UK who will compete with businesses from across the world in a bid to win a place at the Global Entrepreneurship Competition finals in Barcelona in June.

And, with msp’s deadline for nominations closing at 5pm on Monday, March 2nd, the Science Park has issued a final call for any young, innovative companies wishing to be considered for the competition, to get their applications in straight away.

Companies interested in applying for the competition must be start-up or early stage (less than five years on the market), have a maximum turnover of 3million euros and have less than 1million euro of capital raised.

msp will consider all applications received from companies in the UK and will select the top five to go forward to the next stage.

The World Nominating Committee will then review selected nominations from committee members across the world, choosing a shortlist of 25 international companies.

The 25 companies will be invited to attend the competition at HiT Barcelona ’09 and present their business plans to potential investors. Five of the companies will also be selected as cash prize winners by accredited investors through an innovative ‘play-money investment’ voting system.
