North West Innovation Network 2009 Annual Business Pitching and Networking Event
On July 7 UMIC hosted the North West Innovation Network 2009 annual business pitching and networking event for biomedical companies, sponsored by MIDAS, BioNoW, TrusTECH, MBRC and UMIP. Held in UMIC’s Grafton Street event facilities, more than 50 companies across the region took part, many of whom gave a 90 second business pitch. And the event was a great opportunity for a wide range of companies along the biomedical spectrum to network and generate leads, with firms representing a diverse set of activities:
· Scientific recruitment and search
· Electrochemical sensor technology
· Contract clinical research and consultancy
· Laboratory equipment manufacturers and procurement providers
· CAM for biomanufacturing
· Bioinformatics and application software developers
· Medical devices
· Biomedical product design and prototyping
· Bio-pharma training
· Marketing, branding, pre-clinical safety and regulatory strategy/approval services
· Diagnostic, high content analysis and characterisation services
· Mass spectrometry and instrumentation manufacturers
· Cell therapy and cell culture technology support
Just some comments from event delegates say it all. We’re already looking forward to 2010’s NWIN pitching event!
“Many thanks to you and your team for the hospitality and organisation shown at the NWIN event. Everyone I spoke to reported that it had been very enjoyable and successful for them.”
“The scale and breadth of offerings presented was impressive – as was keeping everyone to their 90 seconds! The networking was also genuinely useful with lots of good ideas.”
“I made a number of key contacts including a large pharmaceutical. The event was well worthwhile.”
“Thank you very much for giving us the opportunity to pitch at today’s event and for facilitating and organising an excellent meeting. For us it was really worth going, we met prospective new clients and could renew contacts with a lot of people we hadn’t seen for a while.”
“It proved very useful giving us at least half a dozen positive leads and three definite projects.”
Martino Picardo, UMIC’s managing director commented: “On behalf of NWIN, UMIC is delighted to have hosted such a well-attended and well-received event. We continue to look for feedback from our client and regional network as to the types of events that they would like to see presented by NWIN, UMIC and colleagues in the network in the future.”
