UMIC is located in The Manchester Bioscience Incubator which is strategically positioned at the centre of the University’s research cluster and is directly connected to the School of Biological Sciences and Medical School. The Manchester Bioscience Incubator and The Core Technology Facility are opposite the Manchester Royal Infirmary and adjacent to the new Wellcome Trust Millennium Clinical Research Facility.

Directions:

By car

Follow the approach routes signposted “Universities”.

From M62 West
Leave M62 at J12 and join M602 Salford for 4 miles. At motorway end, join A57 Manchester, joining A57M after 1 mile. Leave at A34 (signed Congleton), bear left (following signs for Universities) then take the right hand lane. At traffic lights, turn right into Grosvenor Street then left into Oxford road and then Grafton Street.

From M62 East
Leave M62 at J18 to join M60 (Manchester). Exit at J24 of the M60 and follow the directions as from M67 along the A57.

From M67
At motorway end, continue along A57 for c. 3 miles towards City Centre. At roundabout, (Apollo theatre on left hand side) take 2nd exit (signposted Universities). It is then half a mile to Grafton Street, off Oxford Road.

From M56
At Junction 3 the M56 exits off on a slip road. Do not exit here but keep straight ahead going onto A5103 to Manchester for c. 4 miles. Turn right at traffic lights just before the brewery, signed Whitworth Art Gallery, Universities. Go straight over the first set of lights and at the second set of lights at the T-junction, turn left. Turn right at the next lights into Grafton Street.

Visitor Parking
Parking is to be found directly in front of the building. Please press buzzer at barrier for access.

Deliveries

By Rail/Bus

From Picadilly Railway Station, bus services are directly outside the station.
From Oxford Road Station, walk down the station approach to Oxford Road. Bus services are to be found outside the Palace Hotel (opposite). The taxi fare from the railway station is approx £4 and it takes approximately 10 minutes.

By air

From Manchester Airport
Bus services depart from the Airport Bus Station. There is also a train service to Piccadilly Railway Station, from where a bus or taxi can be taken. The taxi fare from the airport is approx £10. It takes approximately 20 minutes.
