UMIC Events Teams Up With The Christie To Celebrate Its 10th Anniversary

Layout 1The University of Manchester Innovation Centre Limited is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its conference business by becoming an official supporter of The Christie as well as unveiling a new name for its growing business, UMIC Events.

UMIC has had a long-standing informal relationship with Manchester’s leading cancer charity and will be supporting The Christie with a series of fund raising tenant events and corporate initiatives in the year ahead.

UMIC Events has also just regained the Meeting Industry Association standard, gained AIM accreditation and has retained its Investors in People status. It has also invested in a programme of enhancements to boost its offer including a brand refresh, new website, improved signage and re-decoration at its Grafton Street Innovation Centre and Core Technology Facility.

Since its inception UMIC has become recognised as a market leader, providing 13,620 sq m of high quality state of the art office and laboratory space and has a mixed portfolio of high specification laboratories and office spaces. Key tenants include Epistem, Nanoco and 2-DTech. UMIC Events provides the conferencing and events facilities together with onsite catering.

Commenting on its ten year celebration UMIC Events Sales and Conferencing Manager Simon Hadfield said: “We are thrilled to announce a formal partnership with The Christie and have organised a series of internal and external events to communicate with our stakeholders, have some fun and raise money at the same time for this great cause. Our aim is to build on our reputation, strengthen relationships with current clients and develop our work with new clients from a wide variety of sectors.”

In 2016 UMIC Events will roll out a new concept, UMIC Insights, a series of talks from key business leaders, innovators and creators from a variety of industries and disciplines, bringing together their thoughts on what makes successful businesses stand out.

UMIC Events will also host a series of Inspire Now events where people can join the team for lunch and listen to key and influential speakers giving their insights and ideas into how people can think differently.

Alliance Manchester Business School

UMIC Events are really excited to be supporting further events and courses for Alliance Manchester Business School.

Executive Education is dedicated to working with organisations and individuals to meet their training and development needs. The team work closely with a range of clients including MAG and BP to find innovative ways to apply original thinking to the challenges of the modern business world.

The High Value Managers programme in September and November has been running successfully for more than 15 years is dedicated to equipping managers with the confidence to take on wide ranging business issues. It will be in held in the Dalton Room, Joule Suite and smaller breakout rooms.

Child Poverty Action Group returns for the 3rd year

Next week, we look forward to welcoming back The Child Poverty Action Group who return for their 3rd annual Welfare Rights Conference.

A pinnacle event in their calendar, the day attracts a large number of welfare rights workers, advisors and policy workers from across the country, on topics pertinent to social security and welfare rights.

Through a mixture of talks, question and answer sessions and in-depth workshops, the Conference aims to inform, analyse and spark discussion about pressing welfare rights issues, providing invaluable opportunities for delegates to network and share ideas.

Historically held in London, in 2013 they held their first Northern event to engage a broader audience. With its excellent travel links and central location, Manchester was the natural choice and the UMIC offered the best combination of convenience, service and cost amongst a very competitive field.

Fast forward two years, and the Northern Conference at UMIC is now a firm and favourite fixture, selling out months in advance. Organiser, Sebastian Clark said: ‘Our success has been aided – in no small part – by the excellent service and facilities at UMIC, with truly excellent feedback from all of our delegates. Needless to say, we look forward to returning to the UMIC this September!’

As we move in to summer, we are delighted to offer FREE room hire for all of our spaces! The offer is from Monday 27 July – Friday 28 August (weekdays only) and is subject to clients ordering refreshments and catering with minimum numbers.
