Greenlight Computers Case Study
Greenlight Computers – dolphins in a
sea of sharks
Greenlight Computers Ltd provide high quality out-sourced IT support to north west clients, with over 150 businesses signed up in the company’s first two years of operation. Operating from UMIC’s North Campus Incubator facility in the city centre, they provide shared-service solutions, offering small and medium sized business access to the same quality of service a major corporate would expect. Their shared services philosophy also offers corporate firms access to the cost base a smaller business would expect.
Services
Established in 2006 by founders with more than thirty years experience in corporate IT support, Greenlight Computers can become an enabler for each client’s business growth and sustainable success. Their IT support services include networking, infrastructure design & supply, data management, IT security, email management, web mastery & numerous specialist requirements.
They are investigating new technology ventures requiring the springboard provided by an established client base and support teams to break into the market. Their new sister company, established in 2009, Greengage Security, is the first of these new ventures, marketing and selling access control solutions based on the “sound of your signature”. Based on innovative technology originally developed by Rolls Royce and commercialised by Sign Assured, we believe Greengage Security has a strong pedigree from the outset.
Business focus
Uniqueness is a challenge, especially in sectors as busy as out-sourced IT support. They’ve focussed on key factors that have a huge impact on relieving stress for their clients. Each client has a nominated Greenlight lead technician who works with them regularly, helping to ensure continuity and a deep knowledge of each clients’ needs. Technicians work within a 10 mile radius of home, offering reliable and rapid on-site support for clients. Where our clients maintain in-house IT departments the Greenlight approach provides extra capacity to supplement in-house resource when needed. These simple but effective approaches make Greenlight easy to deal with.
The future
Greenlight is growing consistently. Their services provide excellent value, help many businesses cut costs, and improve service levels.
Greenlight is a great believer in the benefits of business incubation and are delighted to secure an office within UMIC. Over the past two years Greenlight has established fruitful trading relationships with both landlord and fellow tenants, establishing a great example of shared services that benefit all parties. Building on the success of these relationships is at the cornerstone of their ongoing development strategy.
In addition, Greenlight is creating a shared service for central Manchester under the brand “M1” representing city centre postcode locations. Combining their shared service model with the M1marketplace concept, their new initiative aims to create a marketplace where central Manchester businesses can make themselves visible to others in the area. This in turn will hope to stimulate local tradingy and reduce traffic coming in and out of town.
