i-Pix – Energy saving LED lighting technology

i-Pix Ltd design, manufacture and install next-generation LED lighting systems for architectural installations and for the global music and entertainment industries. I-Pix’s product suite includes the satellite, BB4 wash light and BB7 wash/beam light, with further products currently in development.

i-Pix LED lighting systems are in use across a wide range of live and large scale events including: Oasis, Radiohead and Coldplay live concerts, the 2008 BBC Electric Proms, in main stage and house lighting for the 2009 Glastonbury Festival, and for main stage lighting at ‘T in the Park’ 2009 and Reading and Leeds festivals.

Founded in Manchester in 2006 by Chris Ewington, former co-founder of PixelRange, i-Pix’s design & engineering team have over 100 years of expertise in the lighting industries and operate from a purpose-built facility in Stockport, UK.  I-Pix has a dedicated R&D facility, a state-of-the-art demonstration suite and manufacture in-house to robust high-quality build standards.

Context

Radiohead’s lighting designer recently chose to pioneer a completely bulb-free LED lighting and video rig which toured the world for 18 months culminating in their headline slot at Reading Festival. A two thirds reduction in power was achieved and the solid-state nature of the design meant that the lighting crew faced minimal maintenance workload.

Many lighting designers and hire companies are realizing the benefits of LED technology. i-Pix has positioned itself to help accelerate converging technologies for both video and lighting. Using the BB series (building block) the latest BB 1 fixture completes this fixture family with a crossover installation and touring product, high power in nature, with second generation bi-directional technology. Our fixtures offer designers a flexible intelligent colour changing light source for illumination or a pixel tessellated for helping create the ‘big picture’ i-Pix have quickly become recognized for,

With substantial investment into the LED and optical aspects of their product portfolio, i-Pix is the first company to offer a complete product family with homogenized optics. This USP has enabled i-Pix to differentiate itself against cheap alternatives.

With a strong R&D foundation, i-Pix are now developing a second generation white light fixture range which will be launched in early 2010 setting new standards in optical performance and new market opportunities for their white light division.
