The BSR Biologics Register tracks the progress of patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatic conditions who are taking anti-TNFα therapy. Clinical trials have already shown these drugs to be highly effective and the aim of the register is to monitor the long-term safety profile of these agents.
The BSRBR is proud to be the largest prospective register of rheumatology patients receiving anti-TNFα therapy in the world and it currently has over 19,000 patients registered. It continues to grow! Both patients and rheumatology health professionals complete BSRBR questionnaires on a 6 monthly basis. The register is supported by a team of 15 staff at the Arthritis Research UK Epidemiology Unit at the University of Manchester. The team provide a range of services including data collection and management, local investigator liaison, analysis and report preparation and pharmacovigilance.
This register is a unique collaboration between the University of Manchester, a medical professionals’ society (the British Society for Rheumatology) and the pharmaceutical industry. All consultant rheumatologists in the UK who have prescribed anti-TNF therapy participate in the register, supported by allied health professionals.
